She searched the pockets in her jacket for a pack of tissues and cleaned herself. I was still pretty shook up by the orgasm, so I struggled to sit down. I rubbed my eyes, trying to ward off fatigue, when I heard steps coming our way. It was Nancy. She was holding the book beneath her arm and she was bringing a wide smile. I tried to hide my nudity with my arms. She just widened her smile.
“We have what we need.” She said dryly, returning her eyes to Trisha. “Get dressed and call him. I will deal with your friend here.”
My heart jumped to my throat when she said that. And jumped again, almost suffocating me, when she put her hand inside her purse and started walking menacingly towards me. I thought she was going to pull out a gun and shoot me. Instead, she pulled out a small spray can, sat before me and put her hand on my shoulder.
“I’m sorry I have to do this,” she said, her voice strangely comforting, “but there are things you must forget.”
She pointed the can to my face and sprayed me on the nose and mouth. It tasted and smelled awfully. I tried to clean it with the back of my hand, but it was useless. I had inhaled some already.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked between intoxicated coughs.
“Even if I told you, you wouldn’t remember it when you wake up in a few hours.”
I didn’t want to forget anything. I didn’t want to forget the amazing sex with Trisha. I want to remember that orgasm forever.
I always carry a specific adrenaline pill with me. They have a tremendous kick, probably that’s why they’re illegal. I reached out for my pants that were lying on the ground and searched its pockets. When the sisters turned their backs on me, I quickly swallowed the pill. The spray was strong but the pill was stronger. For some minutes, at least… I could feel my mind slowly fading away, but I managed to stay awake to write this all, even though I’m feeling extremely exhausted right now and I don’t know when I will pass out. I hope I’m able to, at least, write down what I heard from the phone call…
Trisha was nearby so I could listen perfectly. Maybe she thought I didn’t understand French…
“Nous l’avons. Le livre. Oui … oui. Non … vous rencontrer à dix? Quoi? Êtes-vous fou? Le livre est plus important qu’un parti stupide!”
Nancy approached Trisha from behind, touched her shoulder and pointed to her wristwatch, telling her to hurry, to which she nodded.
“Ouais, peu importe… Les vamps n’attendront pas pour vous. Vous voir demain.”
She ended the call and banged her foot furiously on the ground.
“Fuck!”
“What happened?” Nancy asked, patting her sister’s shoulder.
“That fucking bastard is going to the party. Says it’s organized by his girlfriend’s father and yadda, yadda, yadda. As if that matters now!”
“Calm down. We’ll meet him tomorrow. In the meanwhile, you and me can get started with the book.
